Building emotional strength and safety in the face of discrimination
Thank you for your interest in the Race Equality Hub Third Sector Diversity Project. This transformative initiative is being delivered by Mabadiliko CIC in partnership with LCR Race Equality Hub and the VS6 to support VCFSE organisations across Liverpool City Region in developing their anti-racism practice and advancing racial equality.
What is the EMPOWER workshop?
Often, discussions about racism and equality focus on building awareness in others. Mabadiliko's EMPOWER workshop takes a different approach - focusing on the mental health and emotional wellbeing of those impacted by racial discrimination.
In this 3-hour session, we create a safe space specifically for Black, Asian and other racially minoritised individuals within VCFSE organisations. The workshop will:

- Empower you with practical techniques to stay emotionally safe when facing racial discrimination and potentially harmful moments
- Explore themes such as internalised oppression
- Provide tools and language to help transform these incidents into teachable moments - in ways that protect the impacted person while offering critical learning opportunities for others
Through attendance, we hope participants will learn skills they can apply to their own lives and share with others who may be struggling to understand and address their own mental health, whilst building the confidence to speak up.

We welcome up to 30 individuals from VCFSE organisations from Black, Asian and other racially minoritised communities across Liverpool City Region, including:

- Liverpool
- Knowsley
- Sefton
- St Helens
- Wirral
- Halton
This includes representatives from charities, community groups, faith organisations, and social enterprises. Multiple people from the same organisation may attend if spaces are available.

- Saturday, 21 March 2026 | 10:00 am - 1:00 pm (15 spaces available)
- Monday, 23 March 2026 | 3:00 - 6:00 pm (15 spaces available)
If both dates work for you, please select both options when registering and we will assign you to whichever session has availability.

Spaces are limited to 30 participants total (15 per session) and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. After you express your interest by filling in your details below, we will share the Zoom joining details with you via email.

All information you provide through this registration form will be securely stored on Mabadiliko CIC's password-protected laptops or encrypted backup files.
If you change your mind about participating, you can withdraw your consent at any time prior to the workshop, without providing any explanation. After the workshop, your data will be deleted, unless you have opted in to receive further communications from us.
All discussions within the workshop will be kept confidential by Mabadiliko CIC, and participants will also be asked to respect other participants by maintaining confidentiality.
